No, it is not designed that way. "They" would love for the 16.25% and the 3% that can upset the apple-cart to die.

We encountered a lot of that from them during covid.

Libertarians are closer to the mark than most. You miss identified them. When a Libertarian aka a man or woman with our progeny, a sovereign without ruler or subjects, does not harm people or property there should be no interact with the COPS unless it is called for.Better look at Bouvier 1856 to define sovereign.

Cops and military love sociopaths and psychopaths, they make excellent killers and if they stay between the lines they can get away with murder. And be totally protected and they are easy to get rid of.

Left brain, right brain the world is designed by left brain, right handed men. You writers need to write, and painters paint. Me and my ilk want our Constitutional republican form of government back. Now the task is to get the writers to write about it so the 62.5% will know what to do.

Will the 62.5% ever really know what to do?

Libertarians are like housecats. They see themselves as independent but are totally dependent on a system they don't understand. Today's conservatives really need to go to kindergarten again and learn the basics of courtesy, sharing, cooperation, and tolerance, which formed mainstream liberalism since the Depression and WW2 sobered everyone up. There are few academic "leftists", mostly mainstream liberals out there. My friend, who headed up a state police union, pointed out the vast disparity of training levels across police departments. In his state, they have zero tolerance for racism, and police violence is at a very low level.

A phuquing Scot? a subject of Charles? running off at the mouth!!. Not old enough or bright enough to expatriate and become a man without a ruler or subjects. That is too hard. So, controlled opposition is your slot.

All cops know who the bad cops are!!. If you speak up or stand up you get no back up. Therefore they all close ranks with the thin blue line around the bad cops. There are no good cops only those that wished they were good...

Lots of false presumptions here in 1st paragraph, whatever it is talking about, and the subject is not about people afraid to lose their jobs but about training.

Training is very important. To what state are you referring?

Massachusetts. I understand, though, the backlash against knee jerk leftists. I just think they are much louder than most liberals. Just like extremists of any stripe are louder than the majority and misrepresent them.

Just to clarify, when you say "liberals," you mean moderate/mainstream left?

Liberal was America when I was growing up. It became a dirty word through deliberate political strategy in the time of Reagan and Bush, and now means "anyone to the left of me."

Up until the late 19th/early 20th, it referred to what would today be called conservative/libertarian. (In Australia and Europe generally, it still largely does.) In the early 20th, after Progressives had worn out their label (and to some degree, their welcome), they began to co-opt the "liberal" label and by the 1930s and forward (solidly up until about the era you mentioned) it came to refer to the moderate American left. (Though because America was built on a classical-liberal substrate, the former meaning was also, to some degree, carried forward.) By the Reagan/Bush era, the left slowly began moving away from the use of that label and towards "progressive" again, though this time with a lowercase p. The degree to which this change was chosen vs. foisted upon them from without is not fully known, though I think it was some amount of both. In my view, it shouldn't be used to describe "anything to the left of me"; rather, it should be reclaimed by conservatives and libertarians.

One of the favorite cynical tactics of so-called conservative think tanks is to appropriate language (woke, victim mentality, civil rights language) for their own purpose, to confuse and dilute those issues. The last thing we need is for conservatives to co-opt "liberal" for themselves, though they've already done a great job of rendering it meaningless, which is why people speak of progressive ideas instead. Today's "conservatives" are anything but conservative, and nothing like what that word used to mean -- the radical right has co-opted that word as well. Language is a major part of their culture war, centered on winning power, and very little about democracy, family values, making America great, etc.
