Dar Williams was the one who said "I will not be afraid of other women" in one of her songs. I'll never forget hearing that lyric for the first time and instantly feeling the impact of the message- don't compare yourself to other women and don't see them as a threat. Instead, become allies and rejoice in your sisterhood.

And this is why the current U.S. government no longer cares that they lie, even when it is obvious.

They know that this 'majority' of people will believe whatever they tell them, and/or will not accept that they are lying even when given concrete evidence of such.

In this so-called 'democracy', you only need a majority to continue the status quo. This quorum of the unaware, of the gullible, of the suggestible is quite sufficient to keep the music playing.

Two examples to wit: the State Dept's current whimperings about how Israel is being overzealous in their treatment of Gaza, and 2) that more money will change the outcome in Ukraine.

In both cases, withdrawal of financial and military support would end these conflicts immediately.

Like Putin said to Tucker, "We're here, ready to negotiate. Where are you?"

But laundering money at taxpayer expense, and continued war economy through weaponry is far more important to our so-called leaders. The corruption is universal in our elected officials and letter agencies.

As for us? Let them eat cake. Or bugs, as it were.

As Desmet points our in "The Psychology of Totalitarianism, a "mass formation" of people who mistake a "non-complex" physical sysytem for a " concrete" one is a precursor to totalitarian rule. Thus, for freedom from totalitarian rule we must stop this mistake from happening. This is made possible by the discovery of the Principles of Reasoning, circa 1975, by Ronald Arlie Christensen, then a PhD candidate in the theoretical physics program of the University of California Berkeley. He called these principles "entropy minimax," after the missing information in an inference ro the conditional outcomes of the events of the future for a physical system, per event. Circa 1980, Christensen published the treatise on this topic that he called "the "Entropy Minimax Sourcebook.

However, the publication of this treatise had very little influence on the habits of the builders of models of physical systems. The vast majority of them continuted to select these inferences, as they had done in the past, through application of the intuitive rules of thumb that are called "heuristics. However, on each occasion in which a particular heuristic selected a particular set of inference for being made by the model, a different heuristic slected a different set of inferences for being made by this model. In this way, the Heuristics Method violated one or more of Aristotle's three "Laws Of Thought.

Humans are absolutely the problem with humanity. If humans actually wanted a different society, they would live differently and create that society. Are humans hardwired for corruption? Or is there something else to blame? A parasite of sorts perhaps? Latched on and preventing humans from living the way they want to, but also not allowing society to completely break down? Interesting thought anyway.

Agree totally, many years ago I watched the social experiment of the Milgrim in a French TV channel, and only a couple of people stood up and said I’m not continuing with this because they believe the grade of pain they were inflicting was great, of course it was fake but they make believe the participants of the experiment that it was in their control. Only two!! So the three things you mentioned are totally true.

Great selection. I love when she breaks down dependence on imported clothing, "who made your dress, was it children or men". Great tune and article. As the Nazis at Nuremberg said, "they were just doing their job". SMH. I see it everywhere in our government and police state, from every corporation and from the people who are complicit in keeping their face in the sand and backsides up for a boot of Uncle Sam's to come along and tell them to keep doing their job and if you keep asking questions it's a humiliation ritual for you.

One of the issues you failed to mention is about freedom itself. What is your definition and where do you get it? Why is is considered above all other notions, such as the volunteered commitment to the community?
