It's misleading to say fascism is on the left. The terms left and right arose during the French Revolution. Bastiat sat on the left of the national assembly. During the Russian Revolution, those communists who opposed the Bolsheviks were considered right wingers. Later the Fascists were said to be on the right as opposed to the communists. The reason for all this confusion is that "left" and "right" have changed meaning over time. I have my own graph that shows political philosophies that is similar to the Political Compass. On my graph fascism is indeed near the top left with other forms of authoritarian collectivism. But fascists were not self-identified leftists. I'll answers questions about this matter elsewhere.

Congratulations, Chris! This looks very good. A thorough analysis of the great Left-Right dichotomy. This should be a key text for political science students the way Gray's Anatomy is for med students!

By the definition of terms, a socialist mistakes a "complex" physical system for a "non-complex" physical system but while a "complex" physical system is self regulating, a "non-complex" physical system is not. Thus, a socialist centralizes the power to regulate various physical systems in the government though the officials of this government lack the expertise they would need to actually regulate this system and free-market capitalists have this expertise. Thus, for the people of a country to replace free market capitalists by socialists by voting the latter individuals into political offices is a grave error.
