The FBI Searched Me on LinkedIn

Right after my 'When Is Violence Justified in Response to Totalitarianism?' article.

You may have read, and even commented on, my article on Thursday in which I posed the question When Is Violence Justified in Response to Totalitarianism?

Well, apparently the FBI was interested in the question too, because within a couple hours of sharing the article to LinkedIn, I got this notice:

Sure, it could be a coincidence, but the timing is certainly interesting. In the words of The X-Files’ Fox Mulder, “If coincidences are just coincidences, why do they feel so contrived?”

Adding to the fun was the possibility that the person or persons taking a look were Bureau lawyers:

Coincidence or not, it is an interesting topic for discussion, because exactly this sort of thing does happen all the time.

Before Obama’s slow-motion coup replaced the leadership of the FBI (and CIA and Pentagon) with left-wing operatives, the FBI regularly took a look at people and entities on both the left and right in order to scan for domestic threats. In any conventional analysis, this makes sense.

Now, however, the Department of Justice is, for obvious partisan reasons, concentrating on putatively “right-wing” domestic ‘threats.’

I have no doubt that some actual threats in that category exist, but they are now painting with such a broad brush that mothers complaining at school-board meetings are being deemed potential “domestic terrorists.” The whole thing is absurd.

Individuals and groups that might—legitimately or not—be deemed a ‘threat’ tend to have one thing in common: they have a complaint about something.

Then again, not all complaints are created equal…

Left-wingers protest a lot of things. Some of it is about the environment or specific matters of justice, but a heck of a lot of it boils down to them wanting to take other people’s stuff.

Every left-wing protest I covered back in the early 2000s—antiwar, anti-Israel, pro-amnesty, etc.—was organized by communists. Every environmental protest includes signs that attack “capitalism.” BLM protests march into rich neighborhoods and warn the residents that some “forced redistribution” lies in their future. Most left-wing ‘solutions’ boil down to taking money from people. Many left-wing protests involve actual violence and do tremendous damage.

Meanwhile, the mothers complaining at school board meetings just don’t want their third grader given picture books showing how to engage in “anal play.”

The difference between the left-wing groups—which the FBI has begun largely to ignore—and the putatively “right-wing threats” they are now concentrating on boils down to this:

The left, generally speaking, are trying to get something.

The right, generally speaking, just want to be left alone.

Want to make these supposed “right-wingers” happy? Just stop doing stuff to them. Don’t give their children books titled Johnny’s First Ball-Gag. Don’t tax and regulate them into poverty. Don’t take their land. Don’t lock them down, close their businesses, and force poison into their veins.

To borrow from, and slightly adjust the words of, the great Frederick Douglass,

“What shall we do with the right-winger?” I have had but one answer from the beginning. Do nothing with us! Your doing with us has already played the mischief with us. Do nothing.”

Indeed, increasingly, the people that our government looks at as potential ‘threats’ aren’t “right-wing” at all—they are just normal people who simply want nothing done with them.

The communists considered dissidents to be domestic threats.

The Nazis considered the French Resistance to be terrorists.

Why wouldn’t people resist totalitarianism? The only people who like it are the ones who impose it. Governments create the complaint, and then treat the complainer as a threat. Gross.

We are no threat to anyone. We just want to live our lives. What is so hard to understand about that?
