Right now in Texas there is a fight for a government forced sale of 66,000 acres. They'll force people out. Never forget who government are. Pirates. This is why they used immigrants in the past to settle the land after they stole it from the first Americans. This is what they'll do again, Imo.

I agree with you, we shouldn't have to move. But we have to know our enemy's potential moves to anticipate the obstacles.

I wonder when people will get fed up enough to drop all the illusions they are still clinging to about their "country."

I don't know. I hope very soon. 🫂

Me Too!!! And I am seeing in many of the posts at sites I follow I am seeing that awakening and the growing awareness and anger at the truth they are finally seeing so clearly. If nothing else we can thank the last crazy few years for that.

"This, coupled with demand, will result in high population density."

Anarchy + High population density -- Any statist would surely tell you that's going to be a recipe for disaster, so if and when these micronations succeed, it should give people an awful lot to consider.

Right! We need to succeed. To show them.

True freedom is a state of mind. Most people are trapped in their own self created prisons consisting of false beliefs, indoctrinated fallacies and irrational thoughts supported by an irrational society. No matter where they go, they take their mental prisons with them.

Freeing oneself from mental prisons is a necessary first step!

As much as I love water, I'm not down with "Water World." Nope.

Same here. If I had the money to turn a seamount into a large artificial island, we might have something to talk about. But a city on a glorified oil platform is not my jam.

Quick edit: That is not meant to sound in any way like a slam at seasteading or the eventual cities that will be built in the sea. Bless those pioneers! But in the early going, it just won’t be for me.

Unless things get REALLY bad on land.

Whew! I'm not alone for now.

The only place no one wants to live is any place no one can live.

Everyone has the right to wander the Earth freely and settle anywhere anyone else may settle.

You cannot fix a broken system with its own broken tools. Only revolution or subversion are ethical paths forward.

The only thing that will work is a grass roots, open-source, parallel society grounded in best practices, incl. at minimum valuing the best interests of every individual, not special interests, not even the majority.

In order to enable such a society we must have an open-source, encrypted, mesh internet. Since the powers in charge will never let that happen, we're Doomed!

What about this?

Well, it's not an internet until it's accessible to all, but is it encrypted? Many such solutions have been offered but none has caught on yet, mostly due to technical difficulty. Can an ordinary person serve their data without frustration? Can an ordinary person get abs connect and maintain the hardware necessary or bypass corporate gatekeeping to ensure the access, and so forth? Ill certainly look into it. The Dark Web was always supposed to be such a thing but it remains for the few.

Personally, i cannot afford to purchase new hardware to enable a new ecosystem without knowing with some certainty that it'll work effectively and indefinitely.

Yeah, the mesh thing, as I understand it, isn't really a solution along the lines of what you are talking about. It requires hardware, and it is short range (until lots of people are using it, IIUC). But I am not a tech person, so there is much I do not know.

The dark web may end up being a solution. That's just about knowing where to go, right?

It looks like the FCC is going to derail it anyhow, with the stroke of a pen. As long as people go along with legalities there will never be a way to avoid tyranny.

Being free is not having more but being happy with less

That certainly is one kind of freedom. (We don't have enough words for all the different kinds.) Then again, people in internment camps have very little, and that is a hard circumstance in which to make oneself happy. Those who can manage it would, I suppose, be happy almost anywhere.

But that is not something that anyone gets to put to the test (by putting people into camps). That is why the top-level kind of freedom is freedom from external coercion.

Agreed. Lots of different freedoms for sure

No but you may have to defend it by force.

Ah, I see.

It is hard to say for sure what will happen. I certainly am not going to make any dispositive predictions like that. We just don't know.

But I do know for sure that a lot of people cannot leave and do not want to leave. And we're not going to just wither into fear or lay down and die. We're going to do whatever we can to be free.
