Well, that's a new musical rabbit hole I'll have to go down now... so, thanks for the introduction to Larkin Poe.

Music is important. If I have shown you something today that will bring you happiness, then it was a good day!

If you are tossing around the question of when is enough enough, you have lost your mind and soul to the society of never-enough.

There is another song I am thinking of with this theme, but I am having trouble finding it…

I am not familiar with your beliefs when it comes to the bible and Christmas, but I do want to offer this to those of your readers that have a typical Christian belief. Be blessed and enjoy. This was a recording from an album I vocalized back 20+ years ago. Is There Room? https://bornagainclassics.com/MarkReynolds-MP3s/IsThereRoom/06-IsThereRoom.mp3

Sure there’s room! Maybe not in the inn, but here!

Pretty song.

This brings to mind the lyrics of one of my favorite songs

“Is this not enough?

This blessed sip of life

Is it not enough?

Staring down at the ground

Oh, then complain and pray for more from above

You greedy little pig”

I think the trick is to combine striving with satisfaction, and gratitude. The striving provides purpose, and the gratitude guards against bitterness.

Well said! What song is it?

That’s pig by The Dave Matthews Band. Many of the songs center on appreciating the brevity of life, and making the most out of the time you have which for me is part of the appeal.

I had a gf who was super into the Dave Matthews Band. She listened on LP, if that tells you how long ago it was!

Haha it tells me nothing about how long ago it was. I bought my younger son a higher end record player for Christmas last year, and I’ve picked him up a couple albums this year 😄

Heh. Good point.

Larkin and I had a discussion maybe a decade ago wherein We discussed the accounting for Our energy added. He could not see that such practice is archaic. And to this day clings to the idea of "markets" and "money" - so though We agree on virtually everything, the ensuring We MUST add energy for tokens has left Me disappointed.

When One considers that 80% and more of the "jobs" are merely moving tokens, and overall upwards to Ones at the top (which, in moneyed systems there always will be - start with everyOne having equal and in short order, Some will have a lot, and Most will have little).

And the Ones at the top tend to be the psychopaths - money = power, and They lust for power, doing anything They can get away with to garner it.

And why is accounting for the energy We add into a system archaic? Because We have tech They - the moneyed psychopaths at the top, in control - hide avidly, because accounting for Our energy with tokens, "money." is Their ONLY tool to power.
