I have chosen to stand sovereign in this world run by moneyed psychopaths who aim to take Our sovereignty away. I "preach" taking back Our sovereignty. I AM sovereign, heart, mind, and body, whether They choose to bully Me or not.
When We all stand sovereign, protecting One anOther from bullies, the bullies will be overpowered.
It’s something how things in life are connected. If we pay attention to just the things we can control we can change our life in a very positive way. There are so many times I find myself getting frustrated. I want my job to go perfectly smooth but inevitably I run into something unseen that slows progress. Trying to get to the job early and the traffic is terrible and I end up late. A worker doesn’t show up and sets my schedule back. Trying to change someone that just won’t change. If we think about it, we spend far too much time being frustrated or worried with things we can’t change. Living always worried, stressed out, trying to change things we have no control over shortens our time living our life focusing on things we should focus on. We should always try to do what is right but too often we waste our time focused on things out of our control. Stress and worry can shorten your life, and if we spend our life in this mindset it will. They say to cast our cares to the lord, put them on the alter. There are things in life that are out of our hands. We can’t make the sun shine or the rain stop. We can do the right thing, eat right, exercise, take medicine but we can’t make ourself get well. It’s not our job to heal ourselves we can’t control the sunshine. Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you respond.
I remember many years ago my mother, my sister and I lived in the house I grew up in. My garage had been robbed of all the tools I use in my business and I decided to buy a German Sheppard. The dog grew so fast he began limping from leg pain because his muscles were stretching. My mother and sister were upset because Lucas was limping and kept taking him to the vet to have him looked at, they then would hand me the bill, he was my dog. For weeks this went on costing me a couple thousand dollars and I had, had it. The last time they took him, and gave me the bill, again, frustrated, I stopped talking to both of them for 2 weeks. Not long after this happened my mother got pain in her back and a very long horrible process began of heart surgery and then finding out the back pain was actually pancreatic cancer. After a short 3 month bout with the cancer my mother passed away. It made me realize how precious time is and how badly I regretted that two weeks of not talking to my mother. I so wished I could go back in time and cast aside my frustration with the dog and talk to her again. To this day I think about what happened with the dog and how I didn’t talk to my mother for those two weeks because of my frustration.
Next time you’re tempted to be frustrated, offended stressed out, remind yourself, time is precious. Living year after year frustrated with the same issues, the same people getting on your nerves try to remember every day is a gift from God. We’re not always going to be here. Once this day is over we will never get it back. Start to think about the 90% of how you respond. Our time is too valuable to let things we can’t control, control our time. J.Goodrich
I recall a favorite quote from an old Rush song called Tom Sawyer. “My mind is not for rent by any god or government.”
When our thoughts, creative ideas, and innovations are ours to control and not owned and utilized by others we are free on a societal level. Let’s build this!
In the meantime I love the reminder. I’ve been hyper focused on the restraints in my life. To forget I am already free on a personal level is my first mistake! Thanks! I also like Firefly and Serenity.

—There are so many Rush songs that are perfect for #FreedomMusicFriday, and they are one of my all-time favorites, so that helps :-). I have done "The Trees" and "2112" for sure, and I might be forgetting another. I have to just keep working them in…

Wishing you good roads and good weather my brother. Thanks for reminding of my favorite TV serial of all time, it was a heartbreak when they cancelled it. An inspiration. Face the fear, examine it, find something interesting about it, find that you can defy it, so you begin to know you are something greater than it will ever be, because it is nothing. In the Eternal Now there is Always a Way. As you learn to stop resisting the lessons that come to you, and master them, it will become easier to find that Way.
Re: "Firefly"—awesome show. But I hope it never gets remade, because they'll ruin it. Inara will be made trans, Mal will be made into a tyrannical white male, etc. No no no.
Re: the rest—Have you ever written some of your more spiritual and philosophical thoughts out in a more formal fashion?
And please God, don’t let them do a reboot, because they’ll make Mal a disabled trans lesbian of color and Inara ugly. And they will make them the bad guys for defying the government.
I need to rewatch Firefly. But I hope it doesn’t get rebooted because they’ll ruin it. Mal will be recast as a disabled lesbian dwarf of color. Inara will be a trans woman with a beard, and if you don’t find her just as attractive as Morena Baccarin, you’re a bigot.
I do whatever I want, have all my life. Legality is one of the least considerations I take and when legality is in question, then it's how likely is it that you will get caught that I base my decision on. I do what I want with my main limiting concern is, "will my actions infringe on the rights and freedoms of others". Because if you have to screw other people over to do what you want to do to be free, than you are evil, and need to eliminated from this world. Like the song says, you can't control my thoughts. But, they can take the sky away from you, ask any of the people thrown in the federal gulag for being in Washington DC on Jan 6, 2021, some were put into solitary confinement for over 3 years. But, unless they hold you down and inject you with mind altering drugs, they can't control what you think, but they will try to change what you think. The best way I have found to stay free in this country over the last 63 years is to not get caught. Pretend to follow the rules, but do what you want. I guess you also have to want things that don't hurt others for my philosophy to work. Stay under their radar, think before you act, and try to figure out what could go wrong, and how willing you are to deal with it if it does. But don't be like Jack Duff that Thin Lizzy sang about, and let them hang you because you were defiant. Let them think you are with them, who cares, as long as you get what you need/want. You do not get your freedom in life, by your life ending. I've had my ass beat a few times because I was defiant, and instead of walking away I got brave with someone a lot bigger than me and ended up with a broken nose, and another time mouthed off to a cop when I was trying to be defiant, and got the crap beat out of me, and thrown in jail. Pretend to play their game, and get good at cheating.
On the drive down to Florida, “Heaven Knows” by The Pretty Reckless popped up in my playlist. One of the lines of the song suddenly made me think almost exactly what you just said. The lyrics in question say,
“Big man tells you where to go,
Tell them it's good, tell them okay,
Don't do a goddamn thing they say.”
I asked my wife to just write down the words “goddamn thing” to remind me for later. You have described in more the inchoate thought I had at that moment: that one of our strategies should be to be as defiant as possible WITHOUT getting gulaged for it.
I often end up posting this; "The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion.", Albert Camus.
Yep we have to give unto Caesar, money, obedience, -but give as niggardly as possible.
I finished Book 2 of the Lanague Federation Series, then listened to my playlist for a few hours, then listened to some of "How I Found Freedom…" by Harry Browne. Then more music. Then I started "Lucifer's Hammer" (Pournelle/Niven). Then more music.
I did the drive myself (my wife had to stay behind for a work function). People react like, "Oh no, will you be okay for all that driving by yourself?"
Uhhh…yeah. I love (and would prefer) to have my wife with me, but I am also totally fine getting to listen to whatever I like, as loud as I like, for 20 hours :-)
(Plus, we save money on motels because I am willing to stay in crappier places when I am alone.)

Yes!

I love this so much. Firefly is one of my favorite shows ever, and I even have a Serenity tattoo. I also recommend The Freedom Song by Jason Mraz.

“ The Freedom Song by Jason Mraz”
Thanks for the recommendation!
Haha you are so right. If it ever gets rebooted, the entire fandom should refuse to watch it. Shouldn't mess with perfection.

Love that Camus quote. And yes, we may have to submit, but we should minimize it as much as we can.
Sorry about the car mishaps, but it's good you had some music to pass the time ♪♫

A great post, thank you! Firefly is a wonderful series. I've read many "end-world" novels and Lucifer's Hammer is one of the best.
I am still in the character-introduction phase of the novel, but I am enjoying it. I have liked everything else by Niven and Pournelle.
There is no stopping this train.
Heal the trauma, free your mind, and observe the fireworks.
Cheers my friend!
Heya PM—I knew you would like this post :-) Cheers!
I fully agree Christopher!
