I noticed on X a post by Meathead, aka Rob Reiner, who says he'd set himself on fire if Trump became Pres. That's absurd & crazy. But he half means it, as a metaphor of how strongly he feels. Of course he felt just as strongly about Nixon back in the day. It's not really about ideas or principles, it's a primary, literal propagandized mode of emotional thinking fully installed. Other Dems feel the same, but don't express it. So that's where 20th century mind control has taken us. It might be we can't escape this.

I just drove past a car with bumper stickers all over it that were an example of exactly that. In this case, it was a belief in all the obvious lies about Trump. (He may be a lot of ridiculous things, but he is not a “traitor” nor was J6 an “insurrection” or an attempt to overthrow “democracy.”
As far as whether we can escape this, take heart. The percentage who already have escaped grows a little bit each day.
Trump believes in a two part medical. Government and private. He gets booed at his rallies for this. He is against war. He was bringing back manufacturing to the US and re-writing trade deals. He is, in essence, a JFK Democrat. If he had run and won as a D Rob Reiner would say he was the best ever. But he ran as an R. So they hate him with the same policies theybwould love in a D.
A guy like Reiner just needs to hate. It has nothing to do with what he wants to see happen. He looks to find something to hate. He thinks he is motivated by righteousness. But he is only energized by hating someone or something.
