How Long Before We're Forced to Jack into the Grid?

And why is ANYONE forced to do ANYTHING?

I think it’s time we do a #FreedomShorts post.

Fiction has power. Stories have had a deep impact on my own ideas. And DUST is always good for some freedom-oriented themes.

They also make some really moving stories. How many of you remember this one?

I found a good one for us to watch: Decksdark. It is solid work, and rather touching.

I don’t need to point out the freedom-oriented messages. They’re obvious. However, I will have an exit question after.

Focus in on one line, from the radio broadcast near the beginning:

“We all know that it is unacceptable for people to be living outside the program.”

Outside of voluntaryists and anarchists, most people in the freedom movement hear that and think, They shouldn’t be able to do THAT to people.

In other words, that is government going way too far.

I am sorry to be blunt, but that viewpoint is morally unsupportable. The correct statement is

No one should be able to impose ANYTHING upon others without their consent.

If you trespass the person, property, or liberty of another, you are rightly subject to a defensive response proportional to your act. That is different. That is not what is going on here. This is one group of people deciding what shall be done to another group of people who have NOT trespassed anyone else.

Why should anyone be able to do anything to such people—to peaceful people—without their consent?

If you support any involuntary governance whatsoever—any taxes, any laws, any system to which people did not give valid consent—you are supporting something that cannot morally be justified.

And until humans start to realize that, situations like that in Decksdark are inevitable, especially as technology continues to advance.

So, if you believe that kings, officials, or voting majorities ought to have the ability to subject peaceful people to any transaction, agreement, authority, or encroachment upon their person, property, or liberty, please tell me why. Please tell me how you support that morally.
