Down Went the Oppressor
'In his deep, dark, hopeless hole.' #FreedomMusicFriday
I would like to thank the people who upgraded to become Supporting Members yesterday. This is my full time gig, and I can’t do it without you.
As you can see, I do my best to make sure every conversation happens. Thank you so much for recognizing the effort that goes into that. I promise I will make it worth your while in the months ahead.
After yesterday’s marathon, #FreedomMusicFriday will be a nice change of pace. Today, we look at “The Oppressor” by James Kole.
We’ve done another of James Kole’s pieces here on #FreedomMusicFriday. Kole is what we call a homegrown freedom-music artist. In other words, he is consciously making music with freedom-oriented messages. And he’s a good songwriter to boot, so the music is as good as the message.
Normally, we look at the lyrics to explore a song’s messages. There is no need here. The meaning is clear, and in this case, the video itself tells a story. So you have to watch as well as listen.
Knowing you all to the extent that I do, I think this video is going to hit you the same way it hits me. I would be surprised if it doesn’t. Even if it’s not your kind of music, I think you’ll be able to see yourself in this story.
The man is Kole, and I am pretty sure that the woman is his wife and the girl is their daughter. Kudos to this lovely family for putting together a really moving story!

Thank you for sharing this, Chris!
