In all seriousness, though, I have been learning a little more about neurolinguistic programming over the last few months. We should describe ourselves not as rusty and leaking but as strong and getting stronger. There is some evidence that you can actually slow down the aging process this way.
There's my sense of humor, and then there's my sense of self..When it comes to hard work, I can still kick ass over most thirty somethings without breaking a sweat...I look at people my age, and I'm amazed at how old and decrepit they are...No, I'm not the "god" I was thirty years ago, but when I look at folks around my age, I'm even farther above the norm now, than I was back then..I bury the youngsters in their physical prime, then proceed to bitch about being a decrepit senior citizen...it tickles my funny bone, and freaks out the youngsters...If something doesn't kill me first, I'm gonna end up being Henilein's "Grandpa Stonebender"...
It's easy: "I'm to old for this shit" is perfectly acceptable to say when you're doing something physical that you don't want to do..but don't listen to yourself, do it anyway...
This was beautiful to read. I have always valued how incredibly unique we each are… and this goes even beyond human beings. There is an incredible sacredness to it all which I felt as I took in your words.
You’re good writer with interesting thoughts and ideas. I agree with much of them but there’s no way around or through some realities.
I suppose you know about the souvereign citizen movement. They claim they are no longer members of mostly anglosaxic states, so therefore they don’t stand under these countries laws. Fx they think they don’t need drivers license to drive cars, in their minds they travel. And that’s a bit cute and funny of course. But except all danger they create for other people by don’t respect demands of relevant education to drive a 1400kg car in 90 kmh, they seems to imagine to get away with not obey trafic laws and so just by claiming they don’t need to.
Without exceptions they get arrested and taken to court where the charades continue and then they go to prison.
My point: There’s no single right, or freedom without the ”others” permission.
We can build, create and live our free lives only til the day enough people come to take it away.
Voluntarism don’t work with commies, other thiefs or just cruel people.
Without capacity to use violent force to protect ourselves, which the state will not allow, the project is doomed.
You may excuse my limited english, it’s not my language.
I don’t mean to be rude or mean to you sir.
I’m not so smart so maybe I’ve totally misunderstood you?
“ Voluntarism don’t work with commies, other thiefs or just cruel people. Without capacity to use violent force to protect ourselves, which the state will not allow, the project is doomed.”
— If I am correctly interpreting what you are saying, this is a common objection, based in a common misunderstanding. Those of us who propose voluntaryist/market-anarchic systems are not proposing the absence of mechanisms in which order can be maintained and protective force can be exerted. Rather, we are proposing that order be maintained in a different way. There are certain books and resources I can recommend very highly that describe in great detail, how such mechanisms have worked in the past, how they are working in limited fashion currently, and how they could work at scale in the future.
“Without exceptions they get arrested and taken to court where the charades continue and then they go to prison.”
— There is an expression in America; I am not sure how far it has proliferated into the rest of the world. It says, “the definition of insanity is trying the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.“ We have tried things like sovereign citizen movements, and the results are as you describe. We have tried reforming existing systems, and that does no good. We have had revolutions, and all those revolutions have done is to replace who is imposing a single system upon a whole group of people in a given territory. It is time to try something new.
If you read through the archives of my work, especially here (https://christophercook.substack.com/t/thedistributednation) you will find that I am proposing something new. It won’t involve revolutions or widespread lawbreaking, or thumbing our noses at the authorities and martyring ourselves pointlessly. Our mandate is to build a New World. We must imagine what the world ought to be and begin to build that from the ground up. We won’t escape tyranny overnight. We won’t achieve independence overnight. This is going to take a long time. But the seeds must be planted now so that our descendants can sit in the shade of their trees later.
Thanks for reply! Yes I’m familiar with that expression, I got clean and sober with AA/NA long time ago and it’s oftenly used there. As I sad,I’m not so smart and can only think on the level I am.
Better at recognizing patterns and lines than find out the fine details.
“ There’s no single right, or freedom without the ”others” permission.”
— if you mean by this, that other people will come to threaten our rights, or exert force in some way against us, that is true. However, the rights exist themselves independent of any permission from any other person.
You spelled "rusty, leaking and listing" wrong, lol..
🤣🤣🤣

I love to hear this. I am definitely more active than many other late 50s-somethings, but I aspire to do better still. I will try to be more like you!

I do tend to do that. And then my knee or elbow yells at me!
It's only pain...you'll live.....keep going..
such a way with words!
Thank you. I spent a long time with this one.
very thoughtful and heartfelt - you really captured the essence of humanity in such a melodic fashion.
We should be proud of what we are.

Thank you for your patience with the fact that this is all taking me so long. But I am getting there!
Good things are worth waiting for and a balanced life is important.
🙏🏻🔥
That was definitely part of what I wished to convey. And next week come the logical implications of it all.
I can't wait!
You nailed My assessments well! Indeed, We are.

You have not been rude, and your English is fine. I am sure your command of English is better than my command of whatever your native language is.
Because I am in my car, and on my iPad, I will answer in sections rather than risking the loss of one long answer…

CC - Great work. Thought-provoking stuff.
Thank you. A great deal of thought and care went into it. Even more so with the next installment.
